For example, the method relies on recognising the pulse interval as manifested by the messages coming from the aircraft but, if the ground radar only interrogates each aircraft once or at at non-uniform intervals, the method will fail. Given that Mode-S interrogations are addressed to an individual aircraft, different radar sites might employ different polling strategies which might influence the efficacy of the method.

Unlike Beamfinder Plus this should work with most receivers that are able to give raw data with time tags. Beamfinder Plus S operates like Beamfinder Plus but uses the time interval between Mode-S responses to identify the radar site. It is hoped that the new feature, Beamfinder Plus S, will be useful in areas where one or other of the previous methods are not productive. USA, the Mode-S/A/C radars interrogate aircraft in a way that means that Mode-S equipped aircraft do not respond with Mode-A pings. In parts of Europe, Mode-A is becoming passé and some flights are using non-unique conspicuity squawks. This requires a Mode-A capable receiver (currently Beast and SBS3) and Mode-A radars in the area. Germany, clustering of radar sites makes the IIDs ambiguous and therefore the method unusable.īeamfinder Plus uses the interval between Mode-A pings to identify the radar site. This often only works for aircraft outside of the radar's area of interest and in some areas, eg. You may recall that the Beamfinder method identifies the radar site from the IID embedded in some DF11 air-ground messages. This is the third member of the "Beamfinder trilogy". There are a number of interesting new features in this release. If you have a version-specific firewall (eg Zone Alarm), you may have to reassure it that the new version is permitted to access the Internet. If you post a message saying that the installer is unable to replace planeplotter.exe, it means that you did not close PP first and you pay a forfeit.

You can install the new version over the old one but you *must* close/exit PlanePlotter before installing the new one. If you post a message saying that the web site is still pointing to an earlier version, you pay a forfeit.
